I've always had a penchant for storytelling.
My artistic practice is a quest for the communion that comes from sharing stories; seeking inspiration from my surroundings, following lines of connection to others, across disciplines, across species.
I scavenge bits of everything from history and lore, science and mathematics, to David Attenborough animal documentaries, in the creation of poetry, performance, works on homemade paper and Mylar, installation, using everything I can get my hands on in an effort to address societal and environmental issues, and my own struggles with identity and mental illness. Playing with the notion of craft, conventionally considered "women's work," my practice also often incorporates weaving, knitting, embroidery, food preparation, taking it in unexpected directions.
A large portion of my current focus is the confluence of the Anthropocene urge to conquer the environment and the erosion of the rights of those of us with a uterus, as well as the intersection of access to wild space and mental health, and, as ever, the strange search for identity in the midst of all of this.
In choosing to create moments that are site specific, re-purposing mundane scavenged objects, using urgent movement and instinctive brushstrokes, I seek to create a tether from myself to others, a dialogue about our place, about what immobilizes us, tangles us up, throws us forward, breaks us down...
A recognition that we are both less and more important that we imagine, and that we're all writing this story together.

All works are created by gathering plant matter and other found objects, then burning or boiling or otherwise manipulating to create dyes, inks, paints and drawing materials. Text art becomes the basis for further performance exploration and printmaking.
